Velvet Lounge is currently closed. While we hope this is not our final bow, we are unable to move forward with events and operations.
Through the years, over 100,000 residents and visitors of Southern California have enjoyed truly amazing shows, events, parties and experiences they will never forget. Promoting diversity and acceptance has always been part of our core values. And making smiles, laughs, friendships, life-changing moments… and even finding love… is what has truly driven us.
Opening Velvet Lounge took over 18 months just for city approval; fighting challenges of fear, hate and discrimination. But we were determined to persevere and finally provide this type of venue, which our community so badly needed. Since officially opening our doors almost 9 years ago, Velvet Lounge has continually worked to provide a safe space, resources, jobs and serve as a welcoming hub for LGBTQIA+, allies, friends, families, and anybody supporting diversity. Local artists have had a supportive platform, and stage, to learn and hone their crafts.
Over the years we have issued
• over $2 million to local entertainers and artists,
• over $4 million in wages to employees,
• provided jobs to over 450 residents of Orange County and the surrounding areas, and
• generated millions in tax revenue to our community.
Charity, sponsorships and fundraising for community organizations have always been incredibly important in our mission. We have helped raise and contributed nearly $200,000 for important local causes.
